Nevada Connections Academy is an innovative online public charter school which serves 3,000 students throughout the state. Most of these students have unique learning challenges in the traditional classroom structure. Online education allows these students to succeed at their own pace.
Unfortunately, its fate remains uncertain after a three-day hearing held during the Memorial Weekend. Patrick Gavin who heads up the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority (Authority) has asked for the school’s closure.
Hundreds of online families turned out to support their school and to share their individual academic success stories with the Authority’s board. A vote was postponed until the next Authority hearing in June.
