For some reason, billionaire backers of charter schools are scoring attention from the media. The latest comes from Harold Meyerson in the Los Angeles Times. Wikipedia describes him as “an American journalist, opinion columnist and socialist.”
It’s true business leaders and individual wealthy donors have made significant contributions to pro-charter candidates. However, it’s an indirect investment into America’s next work force.
With public education failing students and vocational programs being eliminated from core curriculums, it’s time to address why graduates lack the skills necessary for employment.
Of all the issues billionaires could choose, why charters, and why now?
